Back to the grind: Latest Gwynnie Bee Shipment

I haven't posted in months. What happened? Life happened. Things always get pretty crazy leading up to fall and then of course...fall. Fall is intense. I travel a LOT for work so as expected my hobbies and passions sometimes get put on the back-burner.

Due to all the travel I had to discontinue my Gwynnie Bee subscription until things calmed down a little bit. Thankfully, now that travel is winding down I have re-opened my account! Yay!

I was super excited when my first package back at Gwynnie Bee arrived on Saturday. Unfortunately, the dress was not flattering at all.

I received the "Zulu Printed Pleated Sheath In Blue". I loved the pattern of this dress and really, really wanted to try it out despite the negative reviews I had read from other Gwynnie Bee members. Yes, I am stubborn!

Most of the reviews said to order 2 sizes up! I am typically reluctant to order anything higher than a 16 but I loved the print so I ordered a 20. When I first put it on it did feel a bit snug but not to the point that it was uncomfortable. I did notice that the armholes were ginormous. See the pictures below for more detailed fitting.

**Note: Please ignore the mess behind me. We've been in and out so much lately that laundry and such has not been the highest priority. But luckily--I get to do all of that tonight! :)

The enormous armholes definitely showed my bra which was a no-go. I knew I would have to wear a cardigan with this. You can also tell in the photo below that it also flared out where the armholes are which was also just terrible.

Another photo to show the awkwardness of the top of this dress:

So---did I wear it? Yes. Were there modifications? YES.

I wore leggings since the dress was a bit short and even shorter when seated. I also wore a cardigan to cover the gaping armholes.

I feel that this dress was simply poorly designed. First of all, no one wants to go up several sizes to wear something. It is not mentally flattering to yourself when you know that you wear an approximate 14/16 and have to size all the way up to a 20 just to wear a specific dress. The lower torso and hips of the dress truly fit as a size 14/16 where as the top was more in line with a 18. The armholes? Not sure what happened with that but they would have been too big on anyone.

I absolutely love Gwynnie Bee and fails like these do not altar my adoration for such a neat organization that empowers curvy women. I do wish that some brands would be a little more concerned with their sizing so that this sort of thing is very unlikely to occur.

Has anyone else had a ultimate Gwynnie Bee fail lately?
