30 Before 30: Frame my Bachelor's and Master's diplomas

Image
I get to mark another thing off of my 30 before 30 list! My wonderful mother bought me three beautiful frames for diplomas. I only have two diplomas to frame, but I am considering framing my GWU Certificate in a nicer frame than it currently has, or potentially pursuing an additional Master's degree while I wait to start law school someday. And a few photos from commencement day in December:      So excited to have completed another milestone in my life! I can't wait to achieve another!

30 Before 30: Go Kayaking

Image
I have been wanting to kayak for several years. The closest I got was testing the weight capacity of a friend's 'kiddie' kayak using my mom's pool. Needless to say, after not flipping and only paddling a few feet I really, really wanted to kayak. Anywhere.  Finally, in July 2014 I had my chance! Our staff retreat was kayaking in the Elk River. And I had a blast! Here are some photos we took with my waterproof camera: I would really love to own a kayak or a canoe some day. I also enjoy canoeing and I definitely think Steven and I would enjoy doing that together, too. But for now, simply renting a kayak would be fun! See what I have left of my 30 Before 30 list.

30 Before 30: Complete my Masters of Business Administration

Image
I have been waiting patiently for this screen, shown below (with my edits of excitement): That's right! I am officially done! I have completed my Masters of Business Administration and now I must merely wait to receive my diploma (and eventually frame it). There is not an official graduation ceremony at the conclusion of the summer semesters so if I decide to walk it won't happen until December. This has been a long time coming. I began this program back in August 2011 and was projected to finish by May 2013; however, life and a full-time job happened so it added on an additional year and a half. I am so excited to be finished!                        Photo Credits:  Jessica McCravy Studios Many have asked me, "What's next?" Honestly, I am not 100% sure. I am still deeply considering law school; however, it will be quite some time before we are ready to relocate so that I can pursue that dream...

30 Before 30: The Challenge

Image
I am turning 25 years old today! Well, this afternoon if you want to be super specific. I have accomplished quite a bit in my 25 years, but I also know I can do more. So, I am challenging myself to complete 30 different things before my 30th birthday! Here is my list: 1. Take a spontaneous trip 2. See a favorite band or performer live in concert   Nick Carter!!!  3. Read 30 books just for fun! 4. Explore your own city- or 2-3 near you! 5. Do a 30 Day Challenge of Something (Yoga, perhaps?) 6. Clean out your closet! (And the back bedroom, and the 2 garages) 7. Start a new career 8. Go kayaking or paddleboarding! Or both! 9. Learn to play guitar left-handed (for real) 10. Take the LSAT!  No longer a dream of mine!  11. Frame my Bachelor's certificate (got to find it first!) 12. Complete my Master's inBusiness Administration   (frame that, too!) 13. Apply for law school(s)!  No longer a dream of mine!  14...

Back to the grind: Latest Gwynnie Bee Shipment

Image
I haven't posted in months. What happened? Life happened. Things always get pretty crazy leading up to fall and then of course...fall. Fall is intense. I travel a LOT for work so as expected my hobbies and passions sometimes get put on the back-burner. Due to all the travel I had to discontinue my Gwynnie Bee subscription until things calmed down a little bit. Thankfully, now that travel is winding down I have re-opened my account! Yay!   Join Gwynnie Bee Today for a Free 30 Day Trial I was super excited when my first package back at Gwynnie Bee arrived on Saturday. Unfortunately, the dress was not flattering at all.  I received the "Zulu Printed Pleated Sheath In Blue". I loved the pattern of this dress and really, really wanted to try it out despite the negative reviews I had read from other Gwynnie Bee members. Yes, I am stubborn!  Most of the reviews said to order 2 sizes up! I am typically reluctant to order anything higher than a 16 but I...

Outdoor Space Makeover

It is time for a home improvement update! Luckily for me this home improvement project merely required a broom, some $$, and a vision.  One of the perks to the lovely home we are renting is the amazing deck! It is huge! I will post photos for proof of that.  Fun fact: we actually got married on our deck and many of our guests were seated on the deck and the rest in the lawn area. I know...you are thinking, well that's absolutely glamorous. But in all seriousness it was an intimate, small(er) ceremony like we wanted. It truly was such an amazing day!  All 'deck'ed out for the wedding:   Here you can see some of the rows on the deck and of course...the kiss ;) There were approximately 7 rows of people seated on each side of the deck...approx 30 people total. I love the trees in this photo! This lets you see how we had the seats on the lawn, which you kind of saw above.  And finally, the wonderful family I married into. ...
